If you're really interested in joining an 'official club' there is the Suzuki Owners Club of America at http://www.soc-usa.org/ and also the Thumper club at http://www.thumper.simplenet.com/FSSNOC/FSSNOC.HTML
Both clubs have web sites, rallies, rides, mailing lists, newsletters - all that neat stuff.
